According to an article in the Report on Medicare Compliance, the RAC audits will be placed on hold for several months as CMS deals with protests from certain vendors who weren't chosen. The chosen vendors have been issued a "stop-work order" until the GAO makes a determination on the protests.
Experts say that although the RAC program may be delayed for several months, there is no hope that it will be completely abandoned. Providers should use this brief reprieve to get organized and prepared for RAC medical record requests.
